New Concept Self Development Center, Inc. will Cease Operations
Milwaukee, WI, November 18, 2023 –
New Concept Self Development Center, Inc. (NCSDC) will cease operations effective December 31, 2023.
NCSDC has been a provider of direct social services to the Black community and the community-at-large for almost 50 years, most recently focusing on its fatherhood initiative. The model has always been personal contact with its location in the heart of the community, currently at the King Center on 15th and Vliet. With the pandemic, NCSDC was unable to pivot from face-to-face services to technology. By the end of the pandemic, people had changed habits to communicating with their phones. NCSDC was unable to recover, and numbers served dwindled. The community-based board made the difficult decision that dissolution would serve the community best. Doors will close by the end of the year and current fatherhood programming will be transferred to Fathers Making Progress. Fathers Making Progress vows to continue the rich tradition of family and community services started under NCSDC.
We celebrate NCSDC’s legacy and its contributions to Milwaukee and wish continued success to Father’s Making Progress in its work in this space.
