GENERAL EQUIVALENCY DIPLOMA (GED) |
SERVICE: Provide test preparation assistance to Milwaukee County residents seeking a General Equivalence Diploma (GED).
ESTABLISHED: 2004
FUNDING SOURCE: Public Service Commission/MATC
DESCRIPTION OF SERVICES: On-going GED test preparation classes are offered Tuesday through Thursday, 9:00am to 12:00pm. Participants work on skills at their own pace with the assistance of a GED instructor from Milwaukee Area Technical College. Work sheets, practice tests, and computers are available for use. Participants also receive help with other issues that may impede one’s progression or participation in the program

GEORGE SANDERS FATHER'S FAMILY RESOURCE CENTER

SERVICE: Various programs offering guidance and on-going support to fathers in their roles as parent and provider.

DESCRIPTION OF SERVICES PROVIDED:
- Southeastern Wisconsin Partnership for Responsible Fatherhood - Individual or group education sessions to promote the positive role fathers play in their children's lives. Discussion topics include Values; Boys to Men; The Art of Communication; Fathers as Providers; Coping as a Single Father; Handling Conflict and Anger; Taking Care of Business; Building a Support Network; Managing Time and Money; Surviving on the Job; The Issue of Race; and Relationships.

DESCRIPTION OF SERVICES PROVIDED:
- Children First - A 16-week program designed to assist unemployed and underemployed parents to find and maintain employment in order to meet their child support obligation. Activities include work search, job skills, job readiness classes, GED classes, resume development interview preparation, access to computer, Internet, and telephone.

SERVICE: Promotes positive parenting, child abuse/neglect prevention, ABC's of healthy infants and repeat pregnancy prevention amongst teen mothers.

DESCRIPTION OF SERVICES PROVIDED: Our case manager will provide individual support on a weekly basis or as needed to pregnant and parenting teens. Topics include parent education, discipline, child development, relationships and continuing education. Services will take place in the home, office, or community setting.

MILWAUKEE ALLIANCE FOR TEACHING ABSTINENCE |
SERVICE: Abstinence educators utilize an interactive approach to deliver the abstinence message to youth. They also provide outreach services, and offer various resources to area healthcare facilities, families, and the community at large.

DESCRIPTION OF SERVICES PROVIDED: New Concept Self Development Center, Inc works with Rosalie Manor Community and Family Services utilizing the evidenced based Families United to Prevent Teen Pregnancy (FUPTP) curriculum to promote abstinence until marriage and develop healthy life skills. Services are provided in schools, churches and other community venue. |

SERVICE: Program educators utilize an interactive approach to provide outreach and educational services to promote healthy relationships with youth ages 14 to 19.

DESCRIPTION OF SERVICES PROVIDED: Supporting families through one on one advocacy and assistance and group Parenting Classes that address Communication and Listening; Lifestyles and Role Models; Human Sexuality/Sexual Abuse Prevention; Discipline vs. Punishment; Building Positive Self-Esteem; Problem Ownership; Behavior Expectations and Child Development; and Children Home Alone.

PARENTS AS TEACHERS OFHUMAN SEXUALITY (PATHS)

SERVICE: To support families through parent education, peer education, individual counseling and family life education.
ESTABLISHED: 1978
FUNDING SOURCE: United Way of Greater Milwaukee
DESCRIPTION OF SERVICES PROVIDED: Specially trained staff provide human sexuality education to parents, schools, youth groups, professionals, and various community organizations throughout Milwaukee County.
- The Family Life Education component is compromised of 6 to 8 structured human sexuality, teen pregnancy prevention and reproductive health sessions designed for youth.
- The Parent Education component provides the training that enables adults and teen parents to become Parent Group Educators (PGE). The Parent Group Educator conducts the in-home human sexuality. teen pregnancy prevention and reproductive health sessions.

RYAN WHITE CASE MANAGMENT (HIV SERVICES) |
SERVICE: Offers non-medical case management and mental health services to HIV/AIDS infected adults.
ESTABLISHED: 1999
FUNDING SOURCE: State of Wisconsin (Health and Family Services Division)
DESCRIPTION OF SERVICES PROVIDED: Case management includes the provision of advice and assistance in obtaining medical, social, community, legal, financial and other needed services. Mental health services consist of professional counseling services to individuals on a one-on-one basis and is provided by a State Licensed Clinical Social Worker.  |
